Film explores ‘architecture of life’
April is Architecture Month in Hawaii. The Hawaii Island Section of the Honolulu Chapter of the American Institute of Architects invites the public to free screenings of “Biophilic Design: The Architecture of Life.”
Directed by Stephen R. Kellert and Bill Finnegan, the hourlong film explores this innovative design trend, exploring the evolution and origins of architecture in search of the architecture of life. The style of design connects people and nature, to build hospitals where patients heal faster, schools where children’s test scores are higher, offices where workers are more productive, and communities where people know more of their neighbors and families thrive.
The film will be presented at 7 p.m. Friday in the Hualalai Conference Room at the W.M. Keck Observatory Headquarters, Waimea. A screening is also slated at 6 p.m. April 25 at the Donkey Mill Art Center, 78-6670 Mamalahoa Highway, Holualoa.
